According to Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post, the Denver Broncos have blocked the Atlanta Falcons’ request to interview their defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero for their vacant defensive coordinator position. Troy Renck of Denver 7 confirms the report from the Broncos who also block the Falcons’ request.
Not a big surprise, but multiple sources say the #Broncos DC will not let Ejiro Evero, who is under contract next year, apply for the Falcons DC job.
They can block lateral movements and it’s still quite early in their own HC search. The coming weeks will be exciting.

That was quick.
It was reported earlier in the evening that the Atlanta Falcons have requested permission to interview Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero for their vacant position as defensive coordinator. Since this was a lateral move and Evero was under contract with the Broncos, the Falcons would need the Broncos to approve this, but they clearly didn’t.
It was curious to see the Falcons even attempt this. Sideways moves like this are rare, especially in a man who is an up and coming coaching candidate. Evero is a candidate for the head coaching position of the Broncos (as well as the Texans and Colts) and is likely to return as their defensive coordinator. The Broncos would be stupid to just let him walk away from nothing, especially if he’s under contract and has had a solid year as defensive coordinator for them.
This was an obvious move for the Broncos, but an even more curious one for the Falcons. I speculated on a few reasons why Evero might be doing this interview, but the Broncos’ quick denial completely erased that.
So hopefully Evero will stick around at least this coming season and continue the good work he did with the Denver Broncos defense.
